Introducing the Vale of Catmos Lodge.
Client: Vale of Catmos Lodge
Sector: Non-Profit
Project Overview
The Vale of Catmos Lodge in Oakham has a rich history, but their online presence didn't show it. Their existing site was showing its age—it was clunky, hard to navigate, and almost impossible to use on a phone. It wasn’t just a technical issue; the site didn't feel like a welcoming "front door" for potential new members.
The goal was to build a bridge between the Lodge’s long-standing traditions and the expectations of a modern audience. It needed to feel prestigious and respectful, but also clear and accessible for anyone looking to learn more about Freemasonry in Oakham.
My Approach
I wanted to create a design that felt "timeless" rather than "old." I stuck to a clean, traditional aesthetic, relying on a restrained colour palette and bold, classic typography, to give the site a sense of authority without feeling cluttered.
I focused heavily on the user journey. I stripped back the complicated navigation and rebuilt the menu so that essential info (like meeting details and membership FAQs) was always just one click away. I also gave the "under the hood" elements a complete overhaul, ensuring the site was fast, SEO-friendly, and looked just as good on a smartphone as it does on a desktop.
